Here is the diningroom/entry. You can see the kitchen to the left, the pantry is behind the door with the chalkboard and the bedroom is discretely concealed behind the book shelf.
So, We had a gymboree weekend. We went on Saturday and on Sunday. I may have neglected to mention the fact that Nora has a gimpy crawl. That is to say she pulls with one foot and slides the other one along...picture igor as a nine month old. It is still an effective crawl, but it looks kinda funny.
Because the studio isn't terribly big she gets pretty bored with seeing the same stuff. Gymboree promised to make up for that. For the uninitiated, Gymboree is like a giant obstacle course for babies. There are slides and balls and tunnels oh my. We figured that just plopping her down on the soft mat would be like releasing a whale into the open ocean. However, that didn't happen. Nora meerly sat holding a ball for something like 30 minutes while all the other children happy crawled about: up and down the slide, through the tunnel, and around the balance beam. The last couple of minutes she finally crawled to the teacher who mesmerized the babies with her bubble blowing contraption. Day two went much better, she only sat with the ball for 20 minutes and eventually did crawl throught the tunnel thingie. But then again she did learn to wave yesterday. Ahhhh.

Living Arrangements
As promised here is shot of the interior of our living space. I'd like to call this our kitchen but in reality it is really a kitchenette or kitchencorner. No stove or oven...but amazingly twice the counter space than we had in our first apartment in Boston. It is hard that we can't really cook and that the fridge is smaller than I was in my last trimester! But so far we've done O.K.
Tonight, Alec and I are planning our first "date night". Should be fun. Also, Nora won her second contest/drawing 1 free month of Gymboree. This may seem like a small thing but, in fact, costs more than a six month gym membership. Can you name the first contest Nora ever won?

Good Morning...
So, many of you linger in bed until late in the day, say 7 or 8 a.m. But, if you're lucky like me you are an early riser that is treated to not only a hungry baby with a poopy diaper but also a gorgeous sunrise. This particular morning was beautiful, but most days are like this. I have to linger on this because sometimes I wonder what the hell we were thinking moving to Santa Barbara. Mornings like this make it clear.
On another note, all of your well wishes and finger crossings WORKED and soon I will be too...Working that is not crossing.
I am going to be the reader for the Winter quarter Children's Literature class at UCSB. For those of you that don't know what that means I'm basically less than a TA and more than...a...student..? Anyway, I get paid an abysmally small amount which is how I know I'm going to love it! The best jobs always mean you can't afford to enjoy life.

Kiss Ma
Nora is so smart (duh)! She gives kisses now...of course only when she wants to.
It is probably the cutest thing that she does (aside from taking naps and sleeping through the night).
Tonight Alec and I are going to talk to an insurance man, fun, fun, fun.
I am also waiting to hear from UCSB, about a reader job for the Children's Literature class starting in January. Everyone keep their fingers crossed.

Promises, promises...
Okay, I know that I keep saying that I will post photos, etc tomorrow and then not following through. Well, I guess it is because I feel bad for signing off before completely finishing a blog entry.
This picture was taken by Alec today. Nora just acquired this new ball and she thinks it is the bee's knees. Today was so gorgeous. We went to the mall and then I went with Jessica to see her classroom. So much fun.
By the way, it took me a total of 4 hours to upload pictures and post this. What ever.

Election Day
Well, today is the day that we all cast our ballots for president. And if you live in CA we'll also be voting on an obscene number of propostions. Many of which I don't have time to research in order to make an informed vote. This is ridiculous, I mean, I elect representatives so that they can decide these matters for me, that is their JOB. I will also be working at the polls. I'll be doing my part from 1-8 PM, see the things you can do when you are "unemployed". Speaking of which, I'm just about ready to head back into the working world, at least part time. Nora is almost 9 months old. Which, incidentally I can't believe. That means she has been in my life for a year and a half WOW. I am hoping to work at the University because I like the environment and the benefits aren't bad either. But,we'll see. I going to start a new series on this blog with pictures of where I live! Exciting huh?!
I will post the first pic tomorrow, I promise...
